It’s a new year, which means you could be on the look out for a bigger car. Maybe your family is expanding or you’ve just outgrown your current car.
Whatever your situation is, buying a new car can be a difficult task, particularly if you don’t know what a good option is for a family car.
A Good Family Car Option
One car that has been on the radar of several car magazines is the Land Rover Discovery Sport.
It’s classed as a medium-sized SUV and can accommodate up to 7 passengers if needed, making it an ideal family car.
If you go with the top-of-the-line, the Discovery Sport HSE Luxury, you’ll be getting a SD4 2.2 litre diesel engine, making it extremely economical on fuel consumption.
It has a nine-speed automatic gearbox and purchase price is $69,990 plus on-road costs.
If you’re looking for a car that will have people stopping in their tracks, then this is a good option, with many purchasers commenting on how often they are stopped and asked about the car.
If you love the Range Rover Evoque, then you’ll likely enjoy the Discovery Sport too. They have similar fronts and can be hard to distinguish from a distance, particularly when you’re in traffic.
Customers who have purchased the Discovery Sport agree that it is a good-looking SUV and note that this was one of the main reasons for picking it.
If you need more than just good looks to convince you, you might like to know the following:
- The SUV is all wheel drive
- Has a diesel turbo with 4 cylinders
- Fuel consumption is 6.1L/100km
- Comes with traction control
- Has many optional features including a sunroof, third row of seats and two-tone paint options
The interior is fitted with Windsor leather, which is soft and can withstand the harsh Australian sun and the toughest dirt a child could throw at it. One customer commented that the leather remains immaculate with no marks (after 6 months of use), even with child seats. The leather has been protected, allowing dirt and grime to wipe off easily. This makes it a great option for a family with young children.
If you do have young children, you’ll be happy to hear that the sound system is one of the best, particularly for listening to the Wiggles on repeat over and over again.
One thing you’ll want to ensure you do is to tick the option that enables apps to connect to the navigation system. Without this option, you’ll find that the system can be slow and clunky. It’s a cheap option to enable the app connection, allowing you to utilise the Land Rover companion app on your smartphone to control the navigation easier. But you must choose that option, otherwise you won’t be able to connect.
One of the best things about the Discovery Sport is that the width of the second row seats is large and they are also on rails. Even with bulky child seats on this row, if you have one placed on either side, you can still easily fit an adult in the middle to deal with a child as they have a meltdown over one thing or another.
If you’re looking to buy a new family car, the Discovery Sport could be a good option for you.
